Best Halloween Pokemon Cards
Let's get to it! Here are our favorite spooky season Pokemon cards!
Gengar - Fossil Set
We start off our list with the holofoil Gengar from Fossil Set, released all the way back in 1999. This was the 3rd set ever released and the Gengar Holofoil was one of the rarer cards that fans wanted to collect. The Fossil Set also included non-holofoil versions of the holofoil cards to help bulk out the set (back when they were less than 100 cards each!).
If you have a first edition Gengar holo in great condition, you might be able to get a pretty penny for it. A PSA10 Gengar 1st-edition was recently sold for $400!
Umbreon Gold Star - Celebrations
Celebrations was a special set released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokemon! The set included reprints of popular cards from the past and in that set was included the Umbreon Gold Star. This dark-type Pokemon is one of the most popular Pokemon and it's original Gold-Star card was given out as a POP Series 5 Promo set in 2007.
Luckily, the Celebrations version of this card is a lot more accessible and goes for around $20.00 on third-party marketplaces.
Gengar & Mimikyu GX - Team Up
Gengar and Mimikyu are often staples of Halloween Pokemon events and so we only thought it fitting that a card featuring both of them make it to our list. The Team Up set is from Sun & Moon era, released all the way back in 2019 (which doesn't actually seem that long ago!).
Naganadel & Guzzlord GX - Cosmic Eclipse
Guzzlord is a terrifying monster Pokemon and is responsible for the destruction of the Ultra Ruin in the Pokemon Anime due to it's need to constantly eat everything in sight.
Guzzlord recently made it's debut in Pokemon Go Raids (we managed to catch a Shundo! WOOP)
Banette GX - Hidden Fates: Shiny Vault
Banette is a ghost-type Pokemon from generation III and has it's own Mega evolution version (released during Pokemon X and Y era). The Hidden Fates: Shiny Vault is a special sub-set of Hidden Fates where all the Pokemon appear in Shiny form.
Lycanroc GX - Hidden Fates: Shiny Vault
Another entry from Hidden Fates: Shiny Vault is the Lycanroc GX. Werewolves are notoriously famous symbols of Halloween and we feel this is the best looking card they've ever produced of Lycanroc in the Pokemon TCG series. Let us know if you find a better one!
Sabrina's Suggestion - Team Up
Sabrina is a Pokemon Gym Leader from the original generation. She uses Psychic Pokemon and in the anime is unable to continue a gym match due to the ghost Pokemon Haunter making her laugh. Her story is actually quite creepy- turning her own parents into play dolls!
Allister - Vivid Voltage
Allister is another Gym Leader from the Sword & Shield series and is featured quite often in those Pokemon TCG sets. We chose the Vivid Voltage Ultra Rare Allister card for our spooky list, due to the fact that Vivid Voltage was one of the most hyped-out sets during Pokemon's renewed hyper in 2021.
Allister uses Ghost-type Pokemon and gives the Ghost badge to those who defeat him.
Mimikyu VMAX - Brilliant Stars
This card might be more familiar to newer collectors of the Pokemon TCG series. Mimikyu features a lot in the Pokemon TCG series and a total of 4 times in Brilliant Stars. This Mimikyu card is part of the Trainer Gallery subset of Brilliant Stars, where Pokemon can be seen with their trainers.
In this card Mimikyu is with Acerola, a member of the Elite Four in the Alola region.
Greavard - Scarlet & Violet
We finish off our list with a new Pokemon from the Scarlet & Violet series: Greavard. This ghost-type Pokemon evolves into Houndstone and was also recently added into the Pokemon GO games. We love the artwork for this illustration rare card.
That wraps up our best Halloween Pokemon cards list!
