Chilling Reign - Best Cards To Pull - Pokemon TCG

November 7, 2023

Chilling Reign is the hottest Pokemon TCG set out this summer 2021 and today we're going to look at all the best cards to pull from the set. Chilling Reign has 233 cards in its set for Pokemon collectors to get their hands on, so looks like completing this set is going to take a lot of work!

Chilling Reign was release on 18th June, 2021 as part of the Sword and Shield expansion of the Pokemon TCG. It features the three Legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, as well as plenty of Galarian forms of Pokemon. There are lots of full-art trainer cards in this set and lots of secret rare cards for you to go after.

With so many cards in the set, this list is going to be a tough one to judge. Already we're seeing waves being made about certain cards in the deck and we won't know prices of them until things have settled down. There are already suggestions though that the pull rates for cards is low, meaning we're going to be seeing some high-priced chaser cards in this set.

If you want to check out the full Chilling Reign Card List, let us know in the comments which is your favorite and which ones you'll be chasing from this set.

Best Cards From Chilling Reign

Celebi V

Celebi V

Celebi V

Ultra Rare

Celebi appears 4 times in this set and the art on all cards is simply stunning. Many players are going to want to collect all of them and this Celebi V Full-art is definitely one to chase. Celebi cards generally go for decent prices, considering the Amazing Rare from Vivid Voltage goes for $10 a piece.

Moltres V

Galarian Moltres V

Galarian Moltres V

Ultra Rare

This is everyone's early favorite to become one of the most wanted chase cards in Chilling Reign. Moltres V alternative art is going to appeal to everyone not just because of the amazing artwork but also it's Rare Ultra rarity. Early suggestions see it going above $150 on market sites in near-mint condition.

Snorlax

#224
Snorlax

Snorlax

Rare Holo

Of the secret rares in Chilling Reign, the Gold Snorlax is on top of every ones hit list. From the original 150 Pokemon, Snorlax cards have gone under the radar in recent times, so it's nice to see a beautiful full-art gold version, allowing the full size of Snorlax to feel very apparent. This card is also going for above $100 currently; with Chilling Reign having multiple $100+ cards this set is going to get pricey!

Melony Rainbow Rare

#218
Melony

Melony

Rare Rainbow

There are some great trainer full arts in this set and I could have picked any number of them. Melony Rainbow Rare gets the edge here; she is a Gym leader in Sword and Shield for Ice type Pokemon, keeping with the Chilling Reign theme here. The non-rainbow version of this card is also worth a mention and both cards are going above $30.

Blaziken VMAX

#201
Blaziken VMAX

Blaziken VMAX

Ultra Rare

Card #201 in the Chilling Reign set is currently the most expensive of the lot based on current market prices. Blaziken VMAX alternative art is currently hitting above $150.00 in the early days and we expect this to continue to rise. The art style is different from a lot of the other secret rares in this set, making it stand out from the crowd. There are a total 5 different Blaziken cards in Chilling Reign, so if you're a fan of that Pokemon you're in luck!

Celebi VMAX

Celebi VMAX

Celebi VMAX

Rare Rainbow

The VMAX Rainbow Rare of Celebi is just too good to not add in this list. The non-rainbow version of Celebi VMAX is already a stunning card in this set, and the Rainbow Rare will have many Pokemon TCG fans chasing after it for their set. It's currently sitting at around $30, which isn't a bad price for a Rainbow Rare with a popular Pokemon such as the Mythical Celebi.

Zapdos V

#174
Galarian Zapdos V

Galarian Zapdos V

Ultra Rare

The Galarian Zapdos V card is currently hitting highs of $110. If you're a fan of the legendary birds, Chilling Reign is going to make you open your wallet up. This full-art card looks like it was taken straight out of the Anime series. The legendary birds are usually fan favorites, so you'll find getting your hands on these cards pricey.

Articuno V

#170
Galarian Articuno V

Galarian Articuno V

Ultra Rare

Articuno in this set seems to have not got as much attention as the other two birds in terms of fan hype. There is another 2 versions of Articuno and they are going for higher prices than this Articuno V but we felt the art on this card is worthy of this list. The Galarian Articuno changes its type to Psychic for Chilling Reign set.

Rapidash V

#168
Galarian Rapidash V

Galarian Rapidash V

Ultra Rare

The Galarian Rapidash alternative art is currently outdoing the other Galarian Rapidash in this set. Both cards will likely go above $30 each, but this beautiful alternative art version is hitting highs of $50.00 already!

Slowking V

#179
Galarian Slowking V

Galarian Slowking V

Ultra Rare

Slowking features SIX times in Chilling Reign and there are plenty of versions we could have added to this list, including the Rainbow Rare. Instead we've gone for the full-art Slowking V because of it's unique art style. It really stands out in this set and it will be a top 10 card for sure when prices settle down.
