Rot Hats are collectables in Kena: Bridge Of Spirits that you can find throughout the world. You can unlock various designs by finding them in Treasure Chests, completing Story Quests and a whole host of other activities.
This guide will show you all of the Rot Hat Locations and how to get them.
Once you unlock a Rot Hat, you can purchase them from Rot Hat Carts stationed throughout the world. You can then equip them to your little Rot creatures; they don't do anything other than make your Rot look super awesome!
The Village
The Village is one of the largest areas in the game. Many of the Rot Hats are locked behind Story quests, so not all of them are available right at the beginning. We've put a note on what abilities you need in order to obtain each Rot Hat in this area.
You can use the map above to get a general idea of where each Rot Hat location is.
Mushroom Hat #1
This hat is given to you as soon as you cleanse The Village from the Deadzone Flower and discover the nearby Rot Hat Cart.
Pot Hat #2
This hat is gotten from the Treasure Chest in The Village next to the Rot Hat Cart.
Clover Hat #3
The Clover Hat can be found in a Treasure Chest opposite the Rot Hat Cart.
Yellow Mushroom Hat #4
This hat can be found in a house pass the portal to Taro's Tree. You need to unlock this house using a Spirit Mail. The hat is inside a Treasure Chest.
Baseball Rot Hat #21
There is a small house near Archery Range that has a Treasure Chest containing the Baseball Rot Hat inside.
Unicorn Rot Hat #22
Unlock the house in The Village with Spirit Mail #3 and there will be three Cursed Chests you need to defeat. The middle one gives the Unicorn Rot Hat.
Ladybug Rot Hat #23
Unlock the house at the top of The Village with Spirit Mail #2 and there is a Treasure Chest inside the house containing the Ladybug Rot Hat.
Zajuro's Mask Rot Hat #38
After using Spirit Mail #7 to unlock the house in the Village, you'll need to use a Forest Tear to clear the Deadzone Weeds from houses. Inside one of them will be a Treasure Chest containing Zajuro's Mask.
Toshi's Mask Rot Hat #39
After using Spirit Mail #9 to unlock the house in the Village, you'll find Toshi's Mask in a Treasure Chest inside one of the houses.
Star Rot Hat #40
After using Spirit Mail #6 to unlock the house at the bottom of the Village, there is a Rot Hat in a Treasure Chest inside the house.
Frog Rot Hat #41
After using the Spirit Mail #5 to unlock the house, you can find a small pond with frogs at the back of the house. Hit each crystal once to generate a Rot and the Frog Rot Hat.
Bunny Rot Hat #42
After using the Spirit Mail #10 (village docks) to unlock the house, you can find the Bunny Rot Hat at the top of the house in a Treasure Chest.
Fishing Rot Hat #43
After using the Spirit Mail #8, destroy the Deadzone Flower in the middle of the area and then use a Teleport Flower to cross over to it. There is a bucket attached to the side of the dock that contains a Rot and the Fishing Rot Hat.
Cat Rot Hat #44
Go to the left side of the entrance to the Storehouse and you'll find a Treasure Chest containing a Cat Rot Hat.
Dog Rot Hat #45
In the area just before the Storehouse, you can climb up onto the big house on the left and find a Treasure Chest containing the Dog Rot Hat.
Mask Maker Rot Hat #47
Defeat the Mask Maker boss and you'll be rewarded the Mask Maker Rot Hat.
Warrior Rot Hat #48
Defeat the Warrior boss and you'll be rewarded the Warrior Rot Hat.
Hunter Rot Hat #49
Defeat the Hunter boss and you'll be rewarded the Hunter Rot Hat.
Mask Rot Hat #50
On the way to Mask Maker Path, you'll come across a house after jumping over several glowing rocks and spirit portals. In the house is a Treasure Chest containing the Mask Rot Hat.
Samurai Rot Hat #51
In Warrior Path, there is a hidden area that you can access just before you take the Spirit Portal to the Warrior Boss area (with the giant bell). You'll see glowing rocks attached to the mountain side that you can cross over to if you throw a bomb. Follow the path from there, and you'll have to fight a few mobs. Then you'll come to another Spirit Portal, where you'll find a Spirit Mail and a Treasure Chest containing the Samurai Rot Hat.
Taro's Tree
You can use this map to help you locate all the Rot Hats in Taro's Tree area.
Bow Rot Hat #5
You can find the Bow Rot Hat inside a house that is blocked by Deadzone Weed. This house is just before the entrance to Taro's Tree (forest area) and there is a Forest Tear in the center of the area.
Fox Rot Hat #6
When you find the Rot Hat Cart near Taro's Tree you'll unlock the Fox Rot Hat.
Butterfly Rot Hat #7
Requirements: Bow
The Butterfly Rot Hat can be found across the river in Taro's Tree area. You'll need to find a Blue Teleport Flower and use your Bow to get over to it. Head up the path to find a chest containing the Butterfly Rot Hat.
Taro's Mask Rot Hat #8
After you defeat Corrupt Taro you will be rewarded Taro's Mask Rot Hat.
Rusu Mountain
Use this map for a general idea of where the Rot Hat's are located in Rusu Mountain.
Bird's Nest Rot Hat #9
Just before the bridge to Rusu's house, you can take the path right and find a Cursed Chest. Completing the challenge rewards you with the Bird's Nest Rot Hat.
Whirly Bird Rot Hat #10
Discover the Rot Hat Cart in Rusu Mountain next to where you take the Archery Training Sessions.
Rusu's Mask Rot Hat #11
Required: Bow
Complete all four Archery Training Exercises and you'll be rewards with the Rusu Mask Rot Hat.
Flower Rot Hat #12
Just behind Rusu's house is a cave that takes you to an open area. In a nearby orange flower patch, there is a hiding Rot. You'll also get the Flower Rot Hat.
Feather Rot Hat #13
Required: Bow
In the same area as the Flower Rot Hat, there is a spinning cog machine. Use your Rot to pull the Cog forward, then use your Bow to hit an arrow to turn the cog's round; this will create a platform you can jump up. Once on the hill, you'll see an Elevator that you can travel along by using your Bow to activate it. Once across, there is a Blow Flower you can teleport to; when you hit the flower, turn around 90 degrees to find another flower and hit it immediately to be transported to a cliff where a Treasure Chest containing the Feather Rot Hat is.
Squash Rot Hat #14
Required: Bow
Just in front of Rusu's house is a patch of mud with a strange contraption in front of it. If you shoot an arrow at it, it will create a Forest Tear for you. Use the Forest Tear to then reveal the plants in the mudpatch, eventually revealing a giant fruit/vegetable that has a Rot on it. You'll also get the Squash Rot Hat.
Forgotten Forest
Use this map for a general idea of where the Rot Hats are located in Forgotten Forest.
Purple Mushroom Rot Hat #15
There is a waterfall just after the Woods Shrine where you can pass through. Inside is a Treasure Chest containing the Purple Mushroom Rot Hat.
Acorn Rot Hat #16
Discover the Rot Hat Card in Forgotten Forest and you'll be rewarded with the Acorn Rot Hat.
Sibling's Rot Hat #17
Required: Bow
Head to the tree branch with a purple circle marking on it; use your Bow to teleport directly across to the tree stump. Open the Treasure Chest to find the Sibling's Rot Hat.
Taro Rot Hat #18
Complete the Cursed Chest challenge that is located near the Sacred Shrine.
Deer Rot Hat #19
Move all three Owl Statues to their platforms next to the cave that releases the Sprout Captain boss.
Pinecone Rot Hat #20
There is a Treasure Chest in a small area just where you destroy the Deadzone Flower outside the Lantern Cave Exit.
Storefront
Beetle Rot Hat
You can find the Beetle Rot Hat in the Storehouse in the cave area where the Bomb monsters are. You will need to throw a Bomb at some Square Rocks in order to climb up, there is a pathway on your left that leads to a Treasure Chest with the hat inside.

Use the map above to get a general idea of where the Rot Hat locations are in the Fields area.
Autumn Rot Hat #26
Head towards Tower Entrance and to the left of it you'll see glowing rocks; hit them with a bomb and then align the long platform up by shooting an arrow at the crystal. Use the Teleport Flower to get up and head to the small safe spot tower. Now throw a bomb at the same rocks and this time double jump onto the long platform. Throw a bomb quickly at the other set of rocks on the floor and double jump to get onto the platform. Pull yourself up and locate the Treasure Chest to the left with the Autumn Rot Hat.
Halo Rot Hat #27
Head inside the house near where you fought Stone Guardian. There is a Teleport Flower in the roof that allows you to find a Treasure Chest containing the Halo Rot Hat.
Pumpkin Rot Hat #32
If you take the elevator down from the mountainside near the Forge teleport marker, there is a house nearby. Inside is a Treasure Chest containing the Ox Rot Hat.
There is a house next to a Forest Tear (you'll need to move to bucket to create it). Use the Forest Tear near the patch of earth to bring up several pumpkins and then use Spirit Pulse to grab the Rot and the Pumpkin Rot Hat.
Pancake Rot Hat #33
There is a pile of glowing rocks next to a house near the Fields teleport marker. Use your bomb to explode them out of the way and there is a Treasure Chest hidden to the right of them containing the Pancake Rot Hat.
Egg Rot Hat #34
Find all three Owl Statues in the immediate area and place them on their positions under a small hut to get the Egg Rot Hat. The three owl statues can be found: One in a field where mobs spawn, one inside a house nearby and one behind the glowing rocks.
Cowboy Rot Hat #35
Complete the Cursed Chest to receive the Cowboy Rot Hat
Sun Rot Hat #36
Discover the Rot Hat Cart to get the Sun Rot Hat.
Sunflower Rot Hat #37
There is a tiny cave with a square block in the way near the Tower. Use your Rot to move the block out of the way to find a Treasure Chest containing the Sunflower Rot Hat.
Adira's Mask #46
After defeating the Corrupt Woodsmith, you'll be rewarded with Adira's Mask.
Village Heart
Stinky Fruit Rot Hat #29
This rot hat can be found in a small house near the Village Heart Entrance; there is a Teleport Flower in the roof allowing you to get find a Treasure Chest containing the Stinky Fruit Rot Hat.
Hana's Mask Rot Hat #30
Complete the Cursed Chest inside the Village Heart
Crown Rot Hat #31
In the Village Heart Caves, the room that has the giant firewave come towards you, there is a secret pathway underneath the giant staircase at the end of the map (underneath where the old Deadzone Flower is). You will have need to have destroyed the Deadzone Flower first so that you can swim in the water. There is a Rot hiding under a piece of wood and a Hat in the Treasure Chest.
