MapleStory Blaze Wizard Skill Build Guide

March 27, 2024

Blaze Wizard is one of five Cygnus Knights you can create in MapleStory and this skill build will show you all the vital skills you need to become the best fire-wielding mage in Maple World.

Originally released in 2009 with a Level Cap of 120, Cygnus Knights now are fully-fleshed out characters with their own fifth job skills and are viable end-game characters for players to use. They have gone through many revamps since their first release, giving them updated skill animation and best mobbing skills to put them in-line with other modern MapleStory Classes.

Blaze Wizard Overview

All Cygnus Knights were revamped as part of the 2022 update V.237 Ignition! They increased their damage skills, improve mobility and added in some new storylines for you to follow.

Blaze Wizard is a fire mage that are known for it's unique Orbital Flame skill. This skill has can be used to attack mobs all around you by using the arrow keys to send the fire balls in any direction, making mobbing very easy in large maps. You'll be using it all the way from first job right up until fifth job and it gets better each job advancement.

Blaze Wizard also has very good mobility, with it's own Flash Jump skill that can get you around large maps, including a double-jump up skill too. You can also create your own portals using the second job skill Flash Fire, which is great for training on larger maps.

You'll find training Blaze Wizard to be very fun as it's mobbing skills are very good. Apart from Orbital Flame, you'll also get several supporting secondary skills that can be very useful in smaller maps. By the time you hit fifth job, you'll have several large area-of-attack skills with short cooldowns that will allow you to lazy farm some of the most popular training maps in MapleStory. You will be consuming tons of MP however, so bring along a healthy supply of MP pots and perhaps the pet auto-mp skill. You may also find some of the skills to be very ping-dependent when playing, which can be a little jarring for players who live far away from their MapleStory Region.

Bossing with Blaze Wizard is fairly simple too; you'll be using most of your normal mobbing skills, interchanging with your short burst skills like Blazing Extinction and Towering Inferno. You get several useful skills when it comes to death; Phoenix Run gives you a free revive when hit with a fatal attack (although it has a hefty cooldown) and you get an i-frame Hyper Skill to allow you to bypass attacks. Whilst they are not at the top of the DPS chart, Blaze Wizards are very capable bossing classes.

  • Flame Elemental (MAX)
  • Firewalk (MAX)
  • Natural Talent (MAX)
  • Fire Repulsion (MAX)

Focus on maxing your main attacking skill Orbital Flame, however, you may also find Flame Bite to be pretty useful since it hits 3 lines of damage in first job. Flame Elemental will auto-summon when you use Orbital Flame and give you a passive boost to your Magic Attack. Natural Talent is a passive magic-guard ability and Firewalk adds some fire and dark sight to your flash jump skill.

  • Controlled Burn (MAX)

In second job, Blaze Wizard's Orbital Flame upgrades to Greater Orbital Flame. You get your Word of Fire skill which increases Attack Speed, so you'll want to max this as early as possible.

Flame Vortex is the better of your two attacking skills- the range on Greater Orbital Flame isn't very big so it's hard to get good map control. It's more useful for tougher enemies like Elite Bosses.

Flash Fire allows you to create a temporary portal to help with navigating large maps. Flame Vortex is a secondary attack that knocks enemies away from you; you'll probably rarely use this skill.

However, you'll mostly be using Flame Tempest as your main attacking skill due to it's superior map control. If you have low damage, you may prefer Orbital Flame, but it's up to you!

You get several passive damage boosting skills, as well as a Phoenix Run, which is super useful at late end-game bosses as it essentially provides a free extra life.
