As part of the winter update for GMS MapleStory, the new exclusive Dark Maplemas Event has begun, with plenty of rewards and prizes to claim for participating! This guide will outline all the events, rewards and how to complete them.
Dark Maplemas is an event that every mapler can participate in. This event is exclusive to GMS and includes brand new quests now seen in any other version of MapleStory.

The event will conclude on January 14th 2025.
Dark Maplemas Starting Quest
To begin the Dark Maplemas event, select the quest The Maplemas Out of Space from the event icon.
Once you complete the quest, you'll be teleported to the event map Dark Maplemas Eve. Here you can select from a bunch of new quests:

Participating in the events will give you either Steadfast Child Present Box or Mighty Child Present Box.

Do You Fear What I Fear?
Speak to Holly and accept the quest Do You Fear What I Fear?
Monsters near your level will start dropping Ornament Box items. You can collect 100 Ornament Boxes per day. They are automatically consumed and added to the Dark Maplemas Tree UI.
For every 10 Ornament boxes you obtain, you can hang 1 ornament on the Dark Maplemas Tree. This will reward you with a Steadfast Child Gift Box.
Ghastly the Snowman
Speak to Holly and accept the quest Ghastly the Snowman.
When you hunt monsters near your level, a special portal will open up leading to the Ghastly the Snowman (similar to Pollo and Fritto portals).
Inside the portal, you can fight the Ghastly the Snowman. Depending on how much damage you do, you'll get a reward.
You can fight the Ghastly the Snowman 3 times per day.
You'll have 1 minute to deal as much damage as possible.

Speak to Holly and accept the quest Wicked Wonderland.
You'll be given access to the special Dark Maplemas Gift Calendar. This calendar is based on the amount of time you are online for.
You can be online for a max of 5 hours per day. Below are the rewards:

Speak to Holly and accept the quest Jingle Knells.
A special buff will be given to everyone in the Dark Maplemas Eve map at the 30 minute mark of every hour.

Wreck the Halls
Speak to Holly and accept the quest Wreck the Halls.
A simple cosmetic change has been made to Runes in monster hunting fields for the duration of the event.
Slay Ride
Speak to Jolly and accept the quest Slay Ride.
You can play a new mini-game called Slay Ride. For every 10,000 meters you achieve, you'll gain the following:
- Mighty Child Gift Box x2
- EXP Voucher x200
You can get a max of 50,000 meters every week.
You can also get cumulative travel distance rewards:
- 100K - Jolly's Extradimensional Joyrider
- 200K - Jolly Totem
You need to speak to Jolly to claim the rewards in the event map.
O Holy Fright
Speak to Jolly and accept the quest O Holy Fright.
O Holy Fright is a mini-game you can complete 5x per week. Completing the mini-game gives you the following:
- Mighty Child Gift Box x2
- EXP Voucher x200
You also get cumulative clear rewards:
- Dark Maplemas Damage Skin (Unit)
- Fright Totem
