Item Drop Rate is a special stat in MapleStory that increases the chances of rare items dropping when you defeat monsters and bosses. Item Drop Rate can be increased from a number of different sources, and this guide will go through all of those methods to help you maximize your chances of getting rare drops.
When you defeat any monster in MapleStory (including bosses) the items they drop have a pre-determined chance of dropping. Some items have a super rare drop chance and only appear after defeating the monster hundreds (if not thousands) of times!
With the introduction of the MapleStory Potential System, players could gain Item Drop Rate lines on accessory equipment to help increase their Drop Rate chances. Before that, the only way the Item Drop Rate could be increased was through Server 2x Events or buying Cash Shop Coupons that increased Drop Rate for 24 hours.
Each player in MapleStory is capped at getting 200% additional Item Drop Rate from equipment. You can go over this limit by gaining Item Drop Rate from other sources (see below).
You can view your Item Drop Rate stat in the Character Stat Window.
The total amount of Item Drop Rate you can obtain is capped at 400% as of patch V253.
Item Drop Rate Equipment
The only pieces of equipment in MapleStory that can get Item Drop Rate potential lines are accessories.
The item must be on Legendary Potential tier and at least Item Level 70.
An item can have up to three lines of Item Drop Rate +20% (but that is super rare!). You can only have a max of +200% Item Drop Rate from equipment. If you go over this amount, it won't count.
- Earrings
- Pendant x2
- Rings x4
- Face Accessory
- Eye Accessory
That leaves you with 9 pieces of equipment that you can Cube for Item Drop Rate. If you manage to cube all pieces to just one line of Item Drop Rate, that will give you +180% extra Item Drop Rate.
Many people have two sets of equipment for their characters: one which focuses mostly on damage and the other for Item Drop Rate/Mesos Drop Rate. Many of the items are also useful in our Maplestory Progression Guide.
Here are some good examples of Item Equipment you can use for Drop Rate:
Rings | Pendants | Face Accessory | Eye Accessory | Earrings |
---|---|---|---|---|
Event Rings:
Blackgate Ring Guardian Angel Ring |
Gollux Pendants Chaos Horntail Pendant |
Condensed Power Crystal |
Aquatic Letter Eye Accessory Black Bean Mark Sweetwater Monocle |
Dea Sidus Earring |
Tradable Drop Rate Accessory Items
Many items in MapleStory become Untradable once you equip them, meaning you cannot sell them without paying NX or transfer them to other characters.
However, there are some legacy items that don't have these restrictions:
- VIP Earrings (Earring)
- Quality Purple Mask (Face Accessory)
- Spectrum Goggles (Eye Accessory)
- Black Bean Ring (Ring)
- 3rd Unwelcome Guest Necklace (Pendant)
Other Item Drop Rate Sources
There are other methods of getting Item Drop Rate that count towards your Item Drop Rate stat. Some of these are easier and cheaper to obtain than Cubing your gear.
Familiar Drop Rate lines do not stack with other familiars.

Add the extra 200% you get from Item Drop Rate equipment, and you can hit around 414% Item Drop Rate. However, there is now a cap on Item Drop Rate at 400% added in patch 253.
