MapleStory's MapleFest was once again held this year in LA and there were several big announcements made with regards to the future Winter Patch coming this year!
MapleFest is an annual event that Maplers can attend in real life by purchasing a ticket. The ticket grants you access to the venue, where you can participate in events, buy exclusive MapleStory Merch and see the latest announcements for upcoming MapleStory content.
This year the event was held in Los Angeles on October 26th 2024 and was attended by both Inkwell and Dr. Lim, MapleStory's GMS directors who are heading up the Western MapleStory Project. If you haven't been keeping up with the latest Inkwell Notes, GMS is finally getting some much needed love with custom content and features that are exclusive to GMS.
MapleFest 2024 Announcements
The Dark Ride
Regarding GMS, there were several previews and announcements made for the upcoming Winter Patch. The update is called The Dark Ride and is set to begin on November 20th and lasts until February 11th 2025!
The Althea Saga is unique content coming to GMS featuring Althea and Kazax. This is a parallel world that will introduce new content for GMS, and we'll likely see future updates to this content in the future.
Ride or Die is a boss challenge that can be completed once per week, running for a total of 12 weeks, open for players that are level 200+.
You'll be able to:
- Choose Boss Difficulty
- Choose the number of challenges
- Face 6 Bosses in Random Order
- Weekly Death Limit (20)
Challenges consist on increasing the amount of attack patterns that you can add to the bosses.
Based on the score you achieve, you'll be able to gain weekly rewards. The rewards have not been specifically announced, however, we did get the following:
- A Wide Variety Of Rewards
- Higher Score = Better Rewards
- New Interactive Totem (regular worlds only)
The New Interactive Totem could also possibly be the Spawn Enhancer item that will give Frenzy Totem like spawns. This totem will only be available in regular servers (interactive).
Dark Maplemas Event
Maplemas is returning to GMS, which is the fan-favorite Holiday-themed event that has appeared in MapleStory many times. This time the event is called Dark Maplemas.
The event lasts from December 17th 2024-January 14th 2024.
There will be four events and two mini-games for players to participate in:
- Do You Fear What I Fear?
- Ghastly the Snowman
- Wicked Wonderland
- Jingle Knells
- O Holy Fright (mini game)
- Slay Ride (mini game)
Limbo Boss
Starting from December 17th, players will be able to take on a new end-game boss called Limbo.
The boss is for players Level 285+ and is Gerand Darmoor's Apostle, a party of 3 can take on the challenge.
There will be new Eternal Equipment dropping, including:
- Eternal Glove
- Eternal Shoes
- Eternal Cape
- Brilliant Boss Accessory (ring)

Familiar Region Update
We also got the announcement that Familiar Cards will now drop from the Hotel Arcus Region in MapleStory GMS!
Familiar Cards are currently restricted to Cernium region, so now players that are Level 265+ can now grind in Hotel Arcus for Familiar Cards.
This will be added in the upcoming November 20th patch!
