MapleStory's GMS chief product officer Inkwell just dropped a huge announcement video detailing upcoming events for the 20th Anniversary of MapleStory GMS! This was one of the biggest announcements for MapleStory GMS ever, so let's dive in!

MapleStory GMS was released in 2005 and to celebrate 20 years of MapleStory, Inkwell has announced lots of exciting new updates coming to the game, including a brand new class that will be playable during the 20th Anniversary Update.
The 20th Anniversary Update should be coming around April 29th.
New Class - Mo Xuan
GMS Players will be getting a brand new MapleStory Class to play called Mo Xuan, which is a Pirate class that comes from the Chinese version of MapleStory.
Mo Xuan was created to replace the now-deleted Jett class in Chinese MapleStory.
Mo Xuan will have a Legion Block that gives +%Critical Damage and the Link Skill will be Jett's old Core Aura.
Anniversary Events
For the 20th Anniversary patch, it looks like we'll be getting the Victoria Cup event, which will have lots of MapleStory mini-games to play and coin shops to buy useful boosts from.
This is the same Victoria Cup event that was used for KMS's 21st Anniversary Event, so it will be likely contain the same item shops and rewards.
MapleStory Classic
We covered the big news yesterday, but MapleStory Classic World is also coming to GMS.
No known release date has been announced for it yet, but we should be getting more news at MapleStory Con in October (see below).
MapleCon Replacing MapleFest
MapleFest is MapleStory GMS's annual in-person event where the latest news for MapleStory is announced, along with some fun in-person events and opportunity to buy exclusive MapleStory Merch.
However, this year MapleFest will be no longer. Instead, MapleCon will be taking it's place at a bigger venue in LA later this year.
Last year, there were many attendees complaining about MapleFest being overcrowded and not accommodating enough.
Inkwell had this to say on the event:
This year's Maple fest will be a special celebration that is different from before and the name has been decided as Global MapleStory 20th anniversary MapleCon 2025.
For this year we are preparing a more spacious and comfortable event venue to host new and exciting activities merch and programs.
Not only is this year's celebration going to include some of your favorite aspects from the previous Maple Fest but there will also be convention style programming with various panels and speakers related to Maple Story.
Also based on feedback from previous years we are creating solutions to provide an improved event experience to make all activities and programs more pleasant and enjoyable such as spending less time in line
This year's event will be more than just a fanfest. This will be the biggest global MapleStory offline event to date.
So we hope you join us in celebrating the 20th anniversary with fellow maplers, guilds and friends. Global MapleStory 20th anniversary Maple Con 2025 will take place in late October in Los Angeles
We're not sure whether MapleCon will be a permanent addition, or whether it is just for the 20th Anniversary.
Familiar Update
Another exciting update for end-game players in MapleStory GMS is the fact that Familiar cards will now drop from all monsters in MapleStory.
Previously, end-game players had to farm familiars in low-level areas, sacrificing EXP and drops to get them. Now, they'll be able to train in areas near their level.
Familiars provide some of the best damage-boosts in game and so this update will be great for all Maplers!

As part of the latest Inkwell note update, player's also can now claim FREE items in game, just by logging in!

Inkwell's Latest Note Update
The 20th Anniversary Video Announcement wasn't all the news we got either; a new Inkwell Note has been posted on the GMS website.
Inkwell notes come from the GMS Directory of MapleStory, giving us an update on the future plans for MapleStory.
MapleStory GMS is taking a different approach to KMS, allowing the content to be fine-tuned for Western audiences, as well as exclusive content being added. Previously, GMS just got every single update from the KMS version without much change.
Whilst this latest note didn't actually give us much information, they are currently considering changes to the following:
- MapleStory Boss Crystals
- Star-Force System
- Quality Of Life updates
