MapleStory Worlds has officially launched for MapleStory Global players and if you live in North or South America, you can access it right now. If you were hoping to play Maplelands, however, you'll have to wait a bit longer.
MapleStory Worlds Soft Launch began on October 16th 2024, allowing players from North and South America countries to access user-created worlds on the platform. However, many of the popular worlds like Mapleland are currently restricted to only South Korean users.
MapleStory Worlds is a platform allowing creators to create their own games using MapleStory Assets. It uses the LUA scripting language and various developers have already begun making Old-School MapleStory Servers.
Maplelands Global - OSMS
Mapleland is currently the most popular MapleStory Worlds server, currently only available to South Korea. It is the most complete remake of MapleStory before the Big Bang, with areas such as Victoria Island, Orbis, El-Nath, Ludibrium and Aqua Road available.
Mapleland put out the following statement regarding a Global Launch (Google Translated:)
4. Regarding Mapleland Global..
With the recent release of MapleStory World's Mac version beta, Maplestory Worlds: Global, which allows you to enjoy MapleStory World in the Americas, was soft-launched on the 16th local time.
Along with this, global adventurers' interest in Mapleland has also increased, and we are aware of this.
However, MapleStory World in the Americas is still in the beta stage, not the official launch, and as previously announced, Mapleland currently has a series of large-volume patches scheduled.
It is difficult to focus on preparing for global service right away and provide it to overseas adventurers in the near future with only the features currently supported by MapleStory World.
That said, I do not want to completely deny the global launch of Mapleland.
Our development team is also thinking and thinking about how to proceed with future development plans, so we will review them and try to give you a positive answer later.
It may be a while before we see a Global Mapleland release, so hopefully other developers may be able to put out their own releases.
There are a number of developers who have showcased their updates regarding recreating the old-school MapleStory Experience. One user to follow would be Chillen, who has been creating his version since last year before MapleStory Worlds was officially launched in the west. Currently it is not ready for release however.
Other servers are available, such as Artale Classic Server, which is a close remake of classic MapleStory with custom features. This is due for release this month.
If we hear any news regarding a global launch for Maplelands, we will post it here!
European Release Date Announced
Those who were hoping to play MapleStory Worlds from Europe will have to wait until January 2024 to gain access.
You're not missing out on much, however, since there are currently no OSMS worlds to play.
You might be able to access the Worlds Editor with a VPN set to America though, so if you're planning on wanting to develop games for MapleStory Worlds, it might be worth it. Nexon has a Creator Circle program open, which will pay up to $3,500 USD/month to developers making games on MapleStory Worlds.
