Maricopia Reef Pokemon Diamond Star List
Getting a Pokemon to Diamond Star is the best rank available for a Pokemon. The below lists shows whether you can get a Diamond snapshot of a Pokemon in that level.
You can change the Research Level of a course when you select it by pressing the X button on your Nintendo Switch.

Key Maricopia Reef Interactions
In New Pokemon Snap, there are variety of different Pokemon you can take pictures of, with different ranks and ratings. You will need to use all the tools available to you in order to get the perfect shot and some of them can be easy to miss when doing a run-through of a course.
We highly recommend you complete the New Pokemon Snap main story before you try to get all the snaps, as you will unlock lots of useful features like Turbo Mode and Burst Mode that can make capturing specific shots of Pokemon a lot easier.
Reef (Day)
- When Sharpedo jumps out of the water and swims with the Machamp around a rock, snap it in mid-air for the 4 Star Diamond
- You can get 4 Star Pikachu when you see it riding the Mantine around the course. You can see them right at the end of the course for some easy snaps.
- You can get 3 Star Diamond Lapras by capturing the one with the Squirtle riding it towards the beginning of the course near the Whirlpool.
- You can get 4 Star Pelipper by throwing a Fluffruit at the Pelipper with Pyukumuku in it's mouth.
- You can get 4 Star Pyukumuku by capturing a shot of it being flung from Pelipper's mouth.
- You can get 3 Star Machamp by capturing a picture of it swimming with the Sharpedo.
Reef (Evening)
- Throw a Fluffruit at a Lapras and capture it looking sad for the 2-Star Diamond shot.
- Capture a close-up of a surfing Raichu eating a Fluffruit for the 2 Star Diamond picture.
- Play music next to Lapras and get a really good close-up for the 4 Star Diamond shot.
Alternative Routes Maricopia Reef
You can unlock various alternative routes in New Pokemon Snap courses, leading you to find brand new Pokemon and get those unique diamond snaps. To unlock these routes, you will have to perform a variety of tasks:
Reef (Day)
- Once you reach the end of the level, you can take the Alternative Route towards the Pelipper with Pyukumuku in their mouth.
Reef (Evening)
- Once you reach Level 2 Research during Maricopia Reef (Evening) you can take the route to the Lapras at the end of the level.
