The third set of Scarlet and Violet series is here: Pokemon TCG Obsidian Flames and we've taken a look at some of the best cards you can pull from this set!
Obsidian Flames releases on August 11th, 2023 and comes with 230 brand new cards for Pokemon TCG fans to collect.
This set features Charizard, one of the most famous characters from the Pokemon series. There are four Charizard cards to pull from Obsidian Flames, with plenty of fans looking to get their hands of the Special Illustration Rare card.
Check out the Obsidian Flames Card List to see which cards you think are worthy of our list.

Best Cards to Pull From Obsidian Flames
Let us know what you think of our list in the comments below!
Charizard EX - Special Illustration Rare
The big one! Charizard EX - Special Illustration Rare is easily the most wanted card from the whole of the Obsidian Flames set, currently hitting early-market prices of $100+! Charizard cards always do well in Pokemon TCG sets and it won't be long until we see this fire-breathing dragon appearing in upcoming sets (Pokemon 151!)
Eiscue EX - Special Illustration Rare
Next up we have another Special Illustration Rare and it features the Eiscue Pokemon from the Sword & Shield generation of Pokemon games (Gen 8!).
This card isn't as pricey as some on this list (currently sitting at just $5!) but it still has some great artwork to show for it and who doesn't love Ice Cubes on a hot summer day?
Gloom - Illustration Rare
We love this Gloom artwork that we just had to put it into our list. We've already pulled two of these cards and you'll find that this Illustration Rare isn't so expensive to buy on the card single's market.
Gloom is of course from the original Pokemon Generation I and will also be featured in the upcoming Pokemon 151 set!
Geeta - Special Illustration Rare
Our Best Cards list wouldn't be complete without a full-art trainer card and it seems for Obsidian Flames Geeta is getting the top spot. Geeta is from the Scarlet and Violet games and is a Pokemon Chairwoman, who chooses the Elite Four of the Paldea Region.
Early prices for Geeta are less than $20, so it's great pickup for your collection and nice pull to get!
Charizard EX - Hyper Rare
Charizard EX - Hyper Rare was leaked early on in the Obsidian Flames previews and many wondered whether this would be the only Charizard in the set. As it turns out, there were three others; we love this Hyper Rare version for the Tera-Form Charizard artwork and the gold card gives it a must-have feel.
It is the second most expensive Charizard card in the set currently, slightly ahead of the Charizard Ultra Rare. It will be interesting to see where all these Charizard card prices end up once packs have been split!
Tyranitar EX - Ultra Rare
Tyranitar also makes a return, having featured in Paldea Evolved and also making our Best Cards To Pull - Paldea Evolved edition! This Ultra Rare version continues the theme of EX Pokemon and has the Shining Fates shiny card background to make it stand out.
Pidgeot EX - Special Illustration Rare
You can find Pidgey, Pidgeotto and Pidgeot in this set as Secret Rare cards; we've decided to go with the third-evolution Pidgeot card for our Best Cards list. We love the Pidgey version too tho!
The Pidgeot EX Special Illustration Rare is currently sitting above $10, which is pretty good for this old generation I Pokemon.
Cleffa - Illustration Rare
This is one of our personal favorite cards of the entire Obsidian Flames set- we were so disappointed not to pull it in our Booster Box Opening! Luckily, this card is only an Illustration Rare and currently is sitting at around $5 on third-place marketplaces.
Charizard EX - Ultra Rare
We'll finish this list off with another Charizard EX - Ultra Rare card. This one we did manage to pull on our second pack- so bias is with us! Obsidian Flames is the Charizard show, so hopefully you're not sick of this Pokemon appearing in sets just yet!
This one is currently going for around $50.00 on marketplaces, which is not a bad price considering it has got to compete with 4 other versions.
