Pokemon Go: Hoenn Tour - Shiny Jirachi, Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon and more!

November 30, 2023

Pokemon Go Hoenn Tour is coming in February 2023 and this guide will tell you all you need to know about which shiny Pokemon will be appearing, what raids to look out for and brand new research tickets that will reward unique pokemon, including the Legendary Jirachi Pokemon!

Pokemon GO Tour is back and this year it features the Hoenn region. This special event will give Pokemon Go Trainers a chance to collect rare shiny Pokemon from the Hoenn region, as well as participate in a real-life event with other fans.

This year, Pokemon Go Hoenn Tour is going to be located at Las Vegas for a two-day event between February 18-19th. Players who want to participate in the real-life event must purchase a ticket in order to enter the event. Currently, tickets are appearing as sold out.

Not to worry though, trainers can take part in the Pokemon Go Hoenn Tour Global Event, which starts February 25th-26th (the following weekend).

Las Vegas Hoenn Tour Event 2023

The Pokemon Go Hoenn Tour is coming to Las Vegas Nevada at Sunset Park during the weekend of February 18-19th. Players can purchase tickets to attend the event where Hoenn Pokemon will be spawning with increased Shiny Rates and host of other benefits:

  • An increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon
  • Up to six Special Trades daily within the park
  • 1/2 Stardust Cost for trades within the park
  • 1/2 Hatch Distance
  • Up to nine daily Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms
  • Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently in balloons
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for 90 minutes
  • Increased chances of obtaining Spooky Scramble and Energy Boost Field Research tasks
  • Access to the Timed Research: GO for a Spin twice—once per day
  • Once Trainers pick a team—either Ruby or Sapphire—they will remain on that team for both days of the event.

Cost of a ticket is $30.00, with the option of adding additional perks for $15 each. Check out the Hoenn Las Vegas page here.

Players who purchase a ticket will also get exclusive timed research tasks leading up to the event starting February 10th.

Exclusive Team Rocket Research

Players at the event will get an exclusive Team Rocket Research in which you'll be required to team-up with Team Rocket to complete the tasks.

Location Cards Feature Debut

A brand new feature called Location Cards will debut at the Las Vegas event.

Players will be able to collect Location Cards when capturing Pokemon from Raids to commemorate special events. These Location Cards will be available from specific raids at the Hoenn Tour Event and trainers will have to figure out which ones give them out.

Shiny Jirachi

Jirachi

Shiny Jirachi will be available to ticket holders at the Las Vegas event. A special research event will take place, with fewer steps than those who purchase the ticket outside of the event, leading to the capture of a guaranteed Shiny Jirachi.

Players who don't attend the event will be able to purchase the Masterwork Research: Wish Granted ticket at the Global Hoenn Tour Event.

Shiny Kecleon

Kecleon was recently added to the game, with a chance of randomly appearing at PokeStops you spin.

Players who attend the Las Vegas event will get the opportunity to capture the Shiny Kecleon first, with boosted rates. Players will be able to get Shiny Kecleon outside of the event at a later date.

Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon

Kyogre

Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon will be making their debut at Pokemon Go Hoenn Tour Las Vegas. Similar to Mega Pokemon, Primal Pokemon requires special energy obtained from Raids and research.

Players can then evolve their Kyogre or Grouden into the Primal versions with enough Primal Energy and earn boosted bonuses such as boosted attacks in Raids.

Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon will be available for other trainers after the Las Vegas event.

Ruby vs Sapphire Challenge

Players will be able to pick a team between Ruby or Sapphire, with each team getting the chance to encounter specific Pokemon. Players will also be able to complete Field Research that will help their team see increased raids for Primal Kyogre or Primal Groudon.

Pokemon Encounters

There will of course be plenty of Hoenn specific Pokemon encounters available for players at the Las Vegas event. These Pokemon will spawn in "special habitats" outlined at the event, all with boosted Shiny rates when you encounter them.

You can see a specific list of the Pokemon available here.

Other Events

There are other announced events, including A Coded Quest, which is an event exclusive to the Las Vegas Sunset Park where players will have to find secret codes to unlock Legendary Pokemon.

We'll update this section as more events are announced.

Pokemon Go Hoenn Tour - Global Event

Global Tour Event

For those not attending the Las Vegas event, all trainers will be able to participate in the Global Hoenn Tour Event during the weekend February 25th-February 26th.

During this event, special Hoenn Pokemon will be spawning: check out the Hoenn Tour Event Pokemon List here.

Special Research: Chasing Legends

There will also be a special research available for players, featuring Rhi from the GO Ultra Recon Squad. The research mentions you'll be asked to look into special Red and Blue orbs used for evolving Kyogre and Groudon into their Primal Forms.

Masterwork Research: Wish Granted

You'll be able to purchase the special Masterwork Research: Wish Granted ticket for $4.99. This will be the same research available as the Las Vegas event, but with more steps.

Players who participate in the research during the Las Vegas event will not be able to purchase this ticket also (so no 2x Shiny Jirachi!)

Remember, players can catch a normal Jirachi by completing the A Thousand Year Slumber research (not part of the event).
