Obols Guide - IdleOn

Obols are special coins that you can equip to your IdleOn characters for stat increases and account bonuses. They become available in World 2 and drop from many different sources in the game.

Obols can be managed from World 2 by clicking on the Obol Statue.

You'll need to complete the quest Bad Kitty, Get Off That Altar to unlock the Obol Statue.

Just purchase a BobJoePickle item from the World 2 shop.

How Obols Work

Obols work very similarly to IdleOn Equipment pieces. Each Obol has fixed stats and they come in many different shapes and rarities.

In order for Obols to start dropping from monsters, you'll need to unlock the World 2 Merit Shop bonus "monsters now drop obols". It has a max value of +35% drop rate for Obols. You can see which monsters drop Obols in our IdleOn Monster Database.

Obols are managed from the World 2 Obol Statue NPC, but also can be accessed from the Codex Menu.

Here you can equip Obols to your character by using the Personal Tab. The Family Tab can be used to share Obol stats among all of your IdleOn characters.

You also merge Obols together of the same type into higher rarities using Obol Fragments.

Obol Fragments are obtained by Trashing Obols you don't need or as rewards from the Arcade.

Random Hyper Obol

Hyper Obols can only be obtained from the Gem Shop.

Circle Hyper Obols come from using the Random Hyper Obol item and the Square Hyper Obols are usually found in the Limited Time section of the Gem Shop.

Obol Upgrading and Rerolling

Upgrading Obols

Using the Obol Upgrades tab at the Obol Statue, you can merge two Obols together for a chance to create an upgraded version.

You can also Reroll the stats of an existing Obol you already own.

Obol Fragment Cost

It costs Fragments and Coins to upgrade Obols. The amount is based on the sell price of each Obol.

Upgrade Chance

When combining two of the same Obols, you have a specific chance for it to upgrade or fail. There is also a chance for the Obol to be destroyed.

Upgrading Rerolled Obols

When upgrading Obols, the Stats of the left-most Obol are kept if they have been rerolled higher.

For example, rerolling a Bronze Obol Of Pop has a base chance of 2% Drop Rate. You can reroll this to have 3% Drop Rate.

Now, when you go to upgrade your two Bronze Obol Of Pop into the Silver version, you can get 4% Drop Rate (instead of the 3% Base Drop Rate that comes with Silver Obol Of Pop).

Rerolling

Rerolling an Obol allows you to change the base stats of an Obol using Obol Fragments.

Each reroll attempt has a chance to either increase or lower the stats of the Obol.

Hexagons and Sparkles have a 1 in 11 chance of also rolling Weapon Attack.
